1. Data we collect
a) Data you provide voluntarily
- Your email when you subscribe to the newsletter.
- Contact information (name, email, message body) when you reach out.
- Comments where commenting is enabled on a post.
b) Data collected automatically
- IP address, browser type, operating system, device, language.
- Pages visited, session duration, links clicked.
- Newsletter open/click events via pixel and link redirects.
- Referrer (which site sent you to us).
2. Why we process this data
- To deliver content and run the site.
- To send the newsletter — only to subscribers who opted in.
- To improve the site: measure performance, detect errors, understand what readers care about.
- To protect the site from abuse (intrusion attempts, spam, etc.).
- To comply with legal obligations when requested by authorities.
We never sell your data to any third party. We do not use it to retarget you with ads off-site.
3. Third parties processing data on our behalf
We rely on established service providers to operate parts of the site. They are contractually required to protect your data and not use it for any other purpose:
WordPress.com (Automattic)
Site hosting, web server, edge protection. US-based.
Brevo (sib)
Newsletter delivery and open/click tracking. France-based, GDPR-compliant.
Zoho Mail
Mail reception on our domain (e.g. info@almotr.com). India-based.
Microsoft Clarity
Anonymised heatmaps and session replays for UX improvement. No personal identifiers collected.
Google Site Kit / Analytics
Aggregated traffic stats (counts, durations, referrers). IP addresses are partially anonymised.
Jetpack
Spam protection, stats, performance. Operated by Automattic.
5. Data retention
- Subscription data: until you unsubscribe.
- Server logs: 30 days, then deleted.
- Analytics: aggregated/de-identified, retained 26 months per Google defaults.
- Contact messages: kept up to 2 years, then deleted.
6. Your rights
Under PDPL and GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct any inaccurate information.
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Restrict or object to processing.
- Receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw your consent at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with the relevant authority (SDAIA in Saudi Arabia, or your local equivalent).

7. Security
We apply industry-standard security: enforced HTTPS, DKIM signing on every newsletter, secure cookies, login rate limiting, daily backups. No system is 100% secure; in the event of a breach we will notify affected users within 72 hours as required by GDPR.
8. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data. If you become aware that a child has provided data to us, please contact us and we'll delete it immediately.
9. Updates to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services or the law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change, and we will notify subscribers of material changes via the newsletter.
